Mary (Henning) Davidson was born October 19, 1919 to Jacob and Maria Penner of Rosenhof, SK. She passed away peacefully on July 9, 2016 at the Meadows Extended Care Facility in Swift Current, SK. Mary is survived by her daughter Brenda (Ron) Hancock; her children Michelle (Trampas) Ashton and their daughter Bretlyn and her son Sean Olfert. She is also survived by Ron’s children Shayne and Brian and their families and by a step-daughter Joyce (Jim) Switzer, their children Blaine, Brenda, Beth, Bev, Ben and their families as well as her sisters Margaret Wiebe, Eva Loewen and sisters-in-law Elsie Penner and Sarah Penner and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; Sisters Helen, Betty, Annie, Agnes, Kay and Brothers John, Jake, Abe, Cornie, Ben and 2 in infancy. She was also predeceased by her first husband Roy Henning in 1974, son-in-law Wes Olfert in 1991 and her second husband Jim Davidson in 1999. Mary married Roy Henning in 1948; together they farmed raising grain and livestock. Mary spent many hours helping on the farm while still growing a large garden. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking. There was always home baking and home grown food on the table. She later married Jim Davidson in 1981 and her love of gardening, baking and handwork continued. She was always very proud of her garden and was always trying new recipes. She made many quilts and lots of clothing over the years. She developed a love for dancing, bowling, playing cards and bingo in later years and spent many hours at the Seniors Activity Center. The last few years she really enjoyed the milkshakes brought to her by her great granddaughter Bretlyn. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Greg Kiel officiating. The pallbearers were: Lydia Heinrichs, Brenda Switzer, Allan Moen, Jack Martens, Blaine Switzer and Ben Switzer. The organist was Glenna Switzer. The interment took place at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Special thanks to the care staff of the Meadows House #10, Palliser Care Centre and Prairie View Lodge for the wonderful care Mary received over the past years.
