ROBINSON – Dorothy Edna of the Gull lake Special Care Home went to Heaven on July 24, 2017 at the age of 98. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons; William (Janet Wickstrom), Kenneth (Sharon), Glenn (Linda) and Leonard (Hannah); grandchildren Steven, Arne (Jennifer), Brandi, Daniel (Melanie), Marty (Danielle) Robinson, Toni (Greg) Holtby, Trisha (Mark) Wolfater, Gene (Lisa), Jamie Robinson, Tenille (Paul) Ayotte, Derek (Katrina) Robinson, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents George and Hannah Campbell, two sisters Minerva Elm, and Olive Harrison, four brothers; Harvey, Elvin, Clarence and Melville Campbell, and one grandson Fred Robinson. Dorothy was born at Owen Sound, Ontario on September 26, 1918. She came west with her mother and family to the family farm that her father George had homesteaded twenty miles north of Tompkins. She attended Boyer Lake School, finishing her grade eleven. Percy and Dorothy were married in 1938. They lived on their farm and raised four sons. In 1969 they moved to Gull Lake. Percy passed away in December 1981. Dorothy was a devout mother and grandmother. Her family was her life. She spent many days out at the farm helping out with chores and spending time with the family. She was famous for her cherry pie and butter tart slice. You always had to have a cup of coffee and a sweet. She was an avid Blue Jay fan and she had a jacket and cap to prove it. Dorothy enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, hardly missing a Basketball or Volleyball game She also like to take good brisk walks and she could really move along at top speed. She also enjoyed curling, bowling and playing cards. Lots of Sundays were enjoyed playing Bridge with Minerva, Monte and Percy. Glenn and Leonard have lots of memories of him and his mother playing checkers. Camping at Cypress Park was the highlight of a lot of her summers later in her life. She also travelled to Victoria a few times to visit her sister Olive. Dorothy lived on her own until 2010, when she moved to Autumn House and then on to the Gull Lake Special Care Home in 2012 until her passing on Monday July 24, 2017. Memorial gifts in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Gull Lake Special Care Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tompkins United Church.
