Obituary of Rosemary Blanche Moen

Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MOEN – Blanche Rosemary passed away at Cypress House in Swift Current on January 1, 2017 at the age of 84. Rosemary was born on January 12, 1932 in Eastend, Saskatchewan, daughter of Margaret and Jim Rittinger, little sister of John, and big sister to Robbie and Frances. Times were hard back then and the bonds of their childhood together held them close throughout her lifetime. The family moved to Swift Current where she eventually married the love of her life, Harold Moen, and raised their three daughters – Terry, Trina and Tammy – as well as many pets throughout her lifetime! Rosemary worked as a bookkeeper at the Skyline Hotel and later, for Harold’s painting and sandblasting businesses. Mom was our fun. She was a master joke teller, a hilarious mimic, and could put a smile on everyone`s face with her quick wit and ability to make fun of every situation. In the early years, Mom and Dad enjoyed spending time with their numerous friends, often at the Eagles Club where Dad was an active member. They had a busy social life and everyone wanted Mom at the party, as she loved to joke, sing and play guitar. She enjoyed relaxing at the cabin during the summertime, first at Lac Pelletier and then eventually Beaver Flats. Upon retirement, Mom & Dad moved permanently to the River where Dad could fish every day and Mom could fry it up alongside fresh vegetables from the garden. Mom enjoyed reading, television, bingo, and even took up golf. She loved to sew, quilt and crochet making many clothes for Terry’s kids and cozy blankets for every family member. Mom so loved each of her grandchildren and she is at the heart of many of their childhood memories. They spent considerable time with her keeping busy outdoors, sewing, making crafts and falling asleep to her many songs and stories, which are beloved to this day. Mom and Dad moved to Stewart Valley shortly before Dad passed away in 2001. In the years that followed, she continued to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, traveling to Cypress Hills, Mexico and Cuba, and then eventually moving back into Swift Current. Mom was caring and good-natured and all who knew her will smile at their memories of the laughter and happy times they were able to share with her. Rosemary was pre-deceased by her parents, Margaret and Jim Rittinger; her husband, Harold Moen; mother and father-in-law, Bertha and Albin Moen; and brother’s-in-law Lorne (Phyllis) and Aldin Moen. She is survived by her siblings: John (Jean) Rittinger, Frances (Fred) Kempf, and Robert (Carolyn) Rittinger; her children and grandchildren: Terry (Allan) Schafer, and their children Jodi Thorimbert (JC Davies), Jerrod (Kelly) Schafer and Jennifer (Shaun) Morris; daughter Trina McKetiak; daughter Tammy Komanchuk, and her children, Jelena and Chloe Komanchuk; and sister-in-law, Francis Moen, along with many special nieces and nephews. Also to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brayden, Abbi-Gail, Jax, Casie, Carsen, Darby, and Emery. The funeral will be held at St. Olaf`s Lutheran Church on Saturday January 14th, at 2:00pm with a tea to follow.
