Tiena Hildebrand

Obituary of Tiena Hildebrand

Please share a memory of Tiena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Tiena Hildebrand, aged 92, was joyfully welcomed into heaven on November 27, 2024, at the Meadows in Swift Current, SK.

Tiena was born, along with her twin sister, Anna, to Henry and Justina Wieler on May 14, 1932, at Blumenort SK. When Tiena was 9 months old, her father passed away, and shortly after, her mother remarried Frank Peters, whom Tiena adored as her father. 3 years after Tiena was born, twin boys arrived, Dave and Jake. The two sets of twins were blessed to have been raised by their loving mother and sister Mary, who at 17 years Tiena’s senior, was like their second mother. Tiena’s family moved to a beautiful homestead at Blumenort where she spent her childhood years, attending the local school through Grade 9. While domestic chores were not her passion, Tiena was able to find joy in household tasks by listening to countless hours of drama theatre on the radio. Tiena preferred to be working outdoors with her hands, and spent every spare moment with her Dad, helping in the blacksmith shop or making their yard beautiful.

After a number of years of courtship, Tiena married Peter R. Hildebrand on October 13, 1957, and welcomed their first son, Marvin, in 1959. Before the birth of their second son, Vernon, in 1960, they started a yard and built their home, where they raised their family. Myrnalyn was born in 1962, and Deborah completed their family in 1964. The years raising children and working on the farm were some of Tiena’s most treasured times, as she taught the children the value of hard work and the joy that can be found in spending time together. Some highlights were the yearly  camping trips and hosting countless family get-togethers during the summer months.

Vernon was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 1977, and the family held onto their faith in Jesus as they navigated their new life as a family of five.

In 1989 Peter and Tiena built a beautiful home on the farm next to Marvin and his family. Myrnalyn and Deborah moved to California, and Peter and Tiena loved to spend the winter months visiting the girls and their husbands, enjoying the warmer weather.

Tiena adored her three grandchildren, having them over for many sleepovers and meals, taking them to town for ice cream, and attending all of their school concerts. There were no other grandchildren as lucky and loved as Tiena’s three.

Farm-life was Tiena’s joy; she loved summers spent tending vegetable gardens, growing flowers, and working alongside Marv and Talita to beautify their yards. Harvest was the highlight of Tiena’s year, as she was able to celebrate the fruits of the year’s labour by combining with the crew up until the age of 80.

The joys of spending time with her family and working on the farm paled in comparison to the love Tiena had for her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Tiena’s faith  was evident throughout her life by how well she loved others, and she never wasted an opportunity to tell those around her about the love that God had for them. Her heart’s desire was for others to know Jesus the way she did so that she could greet them in heaven, and we know that many will be celebrating in heaven because of Tiena.

As Tiena’s health declined, she spent the last 4 years of her life being lovingly cared for by the gracious staff at the Meadows.

Tiena has been greeted in heaven by her parents, son Vernon, husband Peter, son-in-law, Doug, nephews Ronald, Edwin, and Jerry, and all of her siblings.

Tiena leaves an amazing legacy to her children Marv (Talita) Hildebrand, Myrnalyn (Ken) Stanley, Deborah (Don) Brown, her grandchildren Brittany (Brooks) Thoring, Lindsay (Brady) Funk, and Jordan (Alissa) Hildebrand, and great-grandchildren Archer, Addison, and Ace Thoring, Hudson, Roman, and Avery Funk, and Hayden, Olivia, and Anniston Hildebrand.

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask you for
Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead.
I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life.
I want to trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior.
In Your Name. Amen.”
-Billy Graham
