Obituary of Gary Coombs

Gerhard ‘Gary’ Robert Coombs  May 22, 1952 - July 25, 2024 Gary passed suddenly on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK. Gary was born in Folkeston, England on May 22, 1952. He and his mom moved to Canada when Gary was about two years old and settled in the Neville, SK area. Gary was an only child but was close to some of his cousins. His grandpa built a house in Swift Current that Gary and his mom moved into after awhile. Gary lived in that same house until he met and married his wife, Carol (Modin), July 19, 2008. Gary attended St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church with his mom and later started to attend the Full Gospel Church. Gary gave his heart to the Lord in 2009 and faithfully attended church services, men’s ministry breakfasts, potlucks, banquets, etc. Gary enjoyed eating a good meal (until recently when he had teeth problems) He also enjoyed going out for breakfast with his close friends, drinking coffee and would have his travel mug along with him wherever he would go! Gary worked for Pratt Motors and Acklands-Grainger. He retired after he fell off his garage roof in 2013 and had broke the femur in his leg. Gary was blessed to have had many very close friends over the years! He was a long-time member of the Eliminators Car Club, that over the years showed his passion in owning a variety of cars, trucks, motorcycles and he even had a scooter. He also enjoyed the local Drag Racing, The Rogue Cruisers, The Eagles, Heroes, Mental Health, SC Touring Motorcycle Club and had fairly recently joined the amateur Hamm Radio Club. Gary had a special place in his heart for animals, and had many pet dogs and cats! Gary always, always, always had a joke to tell! Everyone that knew him, can relate to being told a few.

Gary will be sadly missed by his wife, Carol, stepson Monty, extended family and his many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Full Gospel Church with a reception at the church to follow.
