Obituary of Katherine Patzer
Katherine (Kay) Patzer (nee Wall) was born in the family home on a farm south of Swift Current in the Village of Springfield on October 12, 1925. She was the eldest of five children born to Heinrich (Henry) and Maria (Mary) Wall (nee Wiebe). Katherine is survived by her three children; Lorne (Diane), Norman (Michelle) and Pauline (Edwin Klassen), nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and brother-in-law; Abe Klassen. She is predeceased by her husband Siegfried in 1965 and by her parents and four siblings; Henry (Margaret), Jake, John, and Mary (Abe Klassen) as well as father and mother-in-law; Adolf and Genevefa Patzer (nee Pelzer), Sister-in-law; Rosalind (Karl Kalinowski) and brother-in-law; Albert (Viola) Patzer.
After graduating from Amphion school in grade 8 she took jobs on several farms to help support her family. In her early 20s she started work at Swift Current Union Hospital where she worked for six years, mostly in the laundry department. In 1952 she met and married Siegfried Adolf Patzer and soon became a full-time mother.
Her favourite pastimes, when not raising three children on her own, were; reading, crocheting and gardening. Kay took great solace in the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a firm believer in the need to have faith in him and his teachings.
A funeral service to honour her life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday July 6th at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home in Swift Current. A lunch reception will be held following the service at the Community Baptist Church.
A viewing will also take place the night before the service from 7pm – 9pm on Friday July 5th.
