Obituary of Sylvia L. Unger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Lorraine Unger of Swift Current Sk. She passed away comfortably and peacefully on May 16 2024 at the Herbert Integrated Health Facility(Herbert Nursing Home). She was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on April 21, 1935. Sylvia is survived by her two sons Keith and Craig(Jackie), two grandchildren Randi(Ryan) Colton(Vanessa) and three great grandchildren Silas, Oliver and Zoe Falk. She was predeceased by her husband Reynold(Rennie), father William(Bill) T. Bender and mother Lydia Bender.Between 1935 and 1944 the family had moved to Kenora Ontario and from there to Regina Sk. and in 1946 moved to Herbert and took grades 6 through 12, after graduating she went to college in Moose Jaw and from there got a job at The Bank Of Montreal in Herbert. September 4 1955 she married Reynold Unger, quit her job and became a housewife and homemaker. Sylvia liked to do crafts like painting and ceramics, most of all she loved her flowers and of course her dog and two cats. In 1982 she and Rennie moved to Swift Current to continue their life together, because of her love for flowers she took a course in flower arranging, after completing the course she got a job with Smart Flowers and Photos, she worked there for about 10 years from here she got a job in the office of an optometrist and worked for another 2 years and then retired. When Rennie and Sylvia were in full retirement they owned many different Rv's and travelled and camped a bit but being home was the best so Sylvia and Rennie got themselves a dog and named him Bear and for 16 years Bear was a very big part of their life, they just loved him but there came a day when Bear come to the end of his life and this was very hard to take. Sylvia talked about him all the time. She loved and was very much loved by family and friends. She will be sadly missed, loved and remembered.

A family celebration of life service will be held at Parkside Funeral Home, then Sylvia will be intered at Memory Gardens Cemetery with her loving husband of 67 years.
