Obituary of Rose Ruth Sproule

SPROULE, Rose Ruth July 29, 1933 – August 4, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Ruth Sproule (nee Miller) on August 4th, 2015, at Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Ward with her daughter at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Robert (Bob) Sproule, Rose leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter Sondra, son-in-law Edson Ng and beloved grandsons Eric and Matthew (Matt). Rose was born July 29, 1933 in Neidpath, Saskatchewan to Adolf and Julianna Miller, immigrants from Poland of German descent. Rose grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, the second of seven children in the Miller family. Rose completed her High School in Herbert, Sask. and later attended Business College in Medicine Hat, AB. It was in Medicine Hat that she met, fell in love and married her life partner Robert (Bob) Sproule, a handsome young fellow serving with the RCAF stationed in Suffield. Their postings with the RCAF (4th Fighter Wing) would take them to Germany, Montreal, Ottawa and Edmonton. Rose began work at the University of Alberta in 1969 in a clerical position and ended her career 26 years later in 1995 as Executive Secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Zoology. Rose and Bob moved to North Vancouver in December 1997 to be close to her daughter Sondra and her family. Rose was a kind and gentle soul with an exceedingly big heart and wonderful sense of humor. Her greatest joy was the time she and Bob spent assisting in the care of her two prized grandsons Eric and Matt and later taking pride in the wonderful young men they had grown up to become. Rose was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. Her passing leaves emptiness now filled with the cherished memories of those lives she touched. Our thanks to the staff on 7-West LGH Palliative Care Unit, the kind caregivers who assisted Rose in her last days, and especially Dr. Paul Sugar, whose kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Funeral Services will be held at Parkside Memorial in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on August 24th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with internment at the Herbert Cemetery. ” To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die”.
