             Mom’s Life of Faith

In her early teens, Evelyn accepted Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior at special meetings held in the Schoenfeld church, right across the street from their home.

After the church building was moved to Blumenhof, Mom and Dad attended Christian Fellowship Church in Rhineland, which her brother Jake had started.  They faithfully attended there most of their lives, being active and involved. They also often went to the Wednesday evening Bible Study and prayer meetings.

At home, Evelyn usually listened to CKSW 570 radio on weekday evenings when Back to the Bible was on.

After moving to Swift Current in 2001, they decided to attend Trailview Alliance Church, which was located just down the hill from their house on Palliser drive.  There they met many friends and attended a small group Bible study and enjoyed the fellowship of the church.

Age, health, and weariness made it difficult to attend the past year but they continued to support the church and wanted to attend when they felt better.

One of her favourite verses from the Bible was “They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength and mount up with wings as eagles.  They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

One of her favorite songs since long ago was “It is well with my soul”  with a verse “When peace like a river attended my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul.”

Another favorite song, which meant a lot to her, especially when her sister Kathy died young was “Be still my soul” with a verse “Be still my soul, the hour is hastening on, when we shall be forever with the Lord ...”

We have no doubt that Mom is in heaven, where all is perfect and peaceful, with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is just the start of her real life that will go on forever.  And being together with loved ones that have already passed away, who also had this same faith in Jesus to save them.  And waiting expectantly to meet all of us who that have been or will be saved.

Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
