Obituary of Don Mitchell

Donald Martin Mitchell passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, SK. Donnie was born in Climax, SK on June 20, 1946, to parents Harry & Hazel Mitchell of Orkney, SK.

Donnie is survived by his wife Karin (Howlett), his son Mark (Shelly), Brady & Carson; daughter Heidi (Scott), T.J. and Carter Barraclough; his sisters Shirley Paczkoski & Margret Carr; brothers-in-law Byron, Miles & David (Marcella) Howlett; as well as many nieces & nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Harry & Hazel Mitchell; 4 brothers Allan, Glen, Lorne & Gordon; brothers-in-law Brian Campbell, Lyle Paczkoski & Bob Miller; sisters-in-law Jean Howlett & Judy Campbell as well as his in-laws Don & Verna Howlett.

Donnie had a passion for farming, mechanics, restoring vehicles and driving fast!! The “Best Driver” his wife ever knew!

Donnie was a special man and he loved spending time socializing and being around people. He found profound joy with his grandchildren and spent as much time as he could with them. He also had a “special way” with animals. They appreciated his quiet, gentle nature. We loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service at the Eagles Hall - 1910 South Service Rd W. Swift Current, SK. The interment service for Donnie will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Orkney Cemetery, Orkney, SK. Funeral arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle & Hayden Cappelle.
