Obituary of Edward Funk

FUNK - EDWARD – age 77, passed away peacefully at Elrose Health Centre, October 11,2023. A funeral service was held at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home on October 19, 2023, at 2 PM with Chaplin Bob Cappelle officiating. The Interment took place following the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current.

Pallbearers were (nephews) Barry Saathoff, Clinton Chant, Jeffrey Funk, (great nephew) Rylan Dupont, (cousins) Brian Funk, Frank Funk. Honorary Pallbearers (friends) Quinton Hadden and Darrell Ross and all members of Southwest Homes. Eulogist is Leanne Nordhagen (Southwest Homes).

Edward is survived by his brother Wilfred Funk (Bonnie) Swift Current, SK. His sister Delores Fitzpatrick (Roy) Swift Current, SK, brother-in-law Michael Chant Medicine Hat, AB. and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces. Edward was predeceased by his father Jacob and his mother Gertrude and step-father Peter Funk, brothers Benjamin, Diedrich (Carol), sisters Gertrude (Alvin), and Sarah. 

Edward lived most of his life in Valleyview Centre in Moose Jaw, SK. Then he moved home to Southwest Group home in Swift Current with his two friends Quinton and Darrell. There he had a very happy and wonderful life. In April of 2020 he was moved to Elrose Health Care Centre. He was cared for beyond measure at both places. Edward LOVED, LOVED music and singing. Some of his other likes were spending time with friends and family, cartoons and being read to. Picnics and outdoor activities were also on the top of his list. Edwards smile will be greatly missed.
