WAGNER – Waldemar on Thursday, December 27th, 2007, Waldemar Wagner, late of Swift Current, formerly of Fort Qu’Appelle passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current at the age of 91 years. Waldemar was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosa; parents, Adolf and Raeil Wagner; daughter Gloria; grandsons, Kevin and David; sister, Theresa and an infant brother. Waldemar is survived by his daughters: Monika (Joe) Onufer of Regina, Theresa (Greg) Mitchell of Fort Qu’Appelle, Brigitte (Doug) Meyer of Swift Current, Annette (Rick) Lindenbach of Fort Qu’Appelle; grandchildren: Christina (Neal) Donovel, Travis (Meagan) Meyer, Neil Mitchell, Adam Meyer, Nathan Meyer, Tyler Lindenbach; great grandchildren: Summer, Riley, and Tanner Donovel. Waldemar was born in Nikolajewka Kaukasus (Russia) on April 19th, 1916. He spent his youth growing up on a farm in Pyatigorsk, Russia. After the war, Waldemar lived in Germany where he met his wife Rosa and they married in Leppershutte, Germany. They resided in Germany for a time before immigrating to Canada in 1954. Their first home in Canada was in Compeer, Alberta. They later moved to Regina and then to Lipton, Saskatchewan where they were owners of a bakery, a confectionary and then a bakery again. After retiring, Waldemar and Rosa moved to Fort Qu’Appelle and were able to enjoy numerous winter vacations in Hawaii. In April 2006, they moved to Swift Current and resided at Golden West Manor. They were only in Swift Current several months before Waldemar lost his beloved wife Rosa whom he missed dearly. Waldemar loved his family and they were his greatest pride. He loved the outdoors and in particular his garden and yard in Fort Qu’Appelle. He was very social and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He filled much of his time playing cards, shuffleboard and carpet bowling with his many new friends at Golden West Manor in Swift Current. The funeral service was held at Parkside Memorial Funeral Chapel in Swift Current on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 with Reverend James Paulgaard officiating. Interment at Lake View Cemetery in Fort Qu’Appelle to follow. Heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital and to Dr. Gert Maree whose compassion and caring was so very much appreciated.
