LEINAN, Helen Therese

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Helen Therese Leinan, at the age of 99.

She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Monica Zagozeski, her husband Allen, her brother Stanley and sister Bernice, and her son and daughter-in-law Arvid and Irene Leinan.

she will be fondly remembered by her brother Joseph Zagozeski, her five surviving children and their spouses, Linda Leinan (Todd Sloan), Audrey Wakeling (Tom), Bruce Leinan (Suzanne), Lois Lempert (Gary), and Laurel Howell (Allan), as well as grandchildren Brent and Valerie Leinan, Myra, Matthew and Michael Sloan, Byron and  Daniel Wakeling and Kathleen Wright, Sarah and Jesse Leinan, Ethan and Aidan Lempert, and Sean, Alanna, Angela and Ian Howell, and great-grandchildren Franklin Gere, Thomas, Carson, Robert and Jack Wakeling, and Khadija and Menelik Zangwio.

Helen had a full and very busy life, first as a teacher, then as a farm wife and mother.  She valued her family, friends in the community, music, education and her church. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League and later in the Swift Current Seniors’ Association. She delivered Meals on Wheels until she could no longer drive.

A funeral Mass and reception will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 20 with interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
