Obituary of Cleophas Gibeau
GIBEAU – Cleophas Joseph Alexandre “Alex” passed away suddenly at home on July 16, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, 8 children, 4 stepchildren and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Francois. Alex was born May 12, 1948 to Alexandre and Rose Gibeau on a farm near Thurso, Quebec. His father passed when Alex was only 3. He went to work at the age of 14 to help his widowed mother. At age 18, his mother passed and the farm was sold. He moved to Squamish, BC and worked in the lumber/forestry industry. He got his journeyman welding and B pressure ticket in BC. He has also worked various jobs in the oil industry throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. He has been a hard worker his entire life, sometimes holding down 3 jobs at once. He was a man of faith. He loved the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing and boating. He loved to watch the deer and the birds from the deck while having morning coffee. At the time of his death he was busy renovating a house at the farm where Carol was raised so they could spend their retirement years enjoying the nature. Being so close to the river, they planned to take the boat out fishing anytime they wanted. With his sudden passing, we are sure he has gone on ahead to renovate their spot in heaven before Carol joins him later. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the SPCA in memory of Alex.
