Abram (Abe) Reimer - It is with much sadness that we announce, Abe Reimer passed away peacefully at The Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on Monday, August 31st 2026 at the age of 83.

Abe battled with his fair share of health issues over the past few years. He was brave and strong through it all, but his body was tired and ready to go home.

Abe was born November 10th, 1942, to Henry and Anna Reimer. He grew up in the Gouldtown area and attended school at Roland, Gouldtown, and Herbert. Abe did very well in school and excelled in sports. Both came very easily to him. 

His first job was pumping gas at the Lone Eagle Esso in Herbert. He would then go on to work for Leonard Schultz, south of Herbert in the Green Farm area. He had a great respect for him and enjoyed his time farming. Next, he went on to work for Voth’s Plumbing and Heating. He obtained his Journeyman Red Seal Certificate in Sheet Metal and Heating. He had a great working relationship with Abe Voth, and the two remained friends all this time. Abe went on to become a talented contractor, well respected in his field. 

On August 16th, 1964, Abe married Lois Wiebe. This union brought three children: Sandra (Sandi), Marcel, and Tracy. Abe continued to build homes, often alongside brother Willie and occasionally brother Ed. There were many well built Nelson homes by the Reimer brothers. Abe loved pouring cement, and was a true master at it. He was a man of faith, integrity, and very generous. He was humble, kind, and did not take pride in material things. He loved his family deeply and looked forward to family gatherings. Abe was always busy with work, but when the grandkids came along, he always had time to play with them, take them for drives, treats, and to the park. Lots of sugar was consumed, and the grandkids went home sweeter than when they arrived. 

Because Abe lost his father at such a young age,(18) he had a very close relationship with his father in law, Tony Wiebe. He enjoyed many family get-gatherings with the Wiebe’s.

Abe enjoyed getting together for coffee row at the Lone Eagle Esso, Marnie’s, and Kitty’s. We often joked that the TV series “Corner Gas”, was inspired by Abe and his friends. Abe was known for liking a lot of sugar in his coffee; and ketchup on ice cream, cake, or pie. He had a great sense of humour, which brought many good times and long-lasting friendships. He cherished all of the relationships he built through the years. 

When Abe lost Lois in September, 2008 (after 44 years of marriage), his health began deteriorating. Therefore, he moved to Swift Current so he could receive regular dialysis treatment at the Cypress Regional Hospital. He missed his Herbert friends and family, but was quick to make new ones in his years at The Meadows. The nurses, care aids, and residents became like family to him. During that time, his brother Willie’s regular visits made this transition a lot easier. Abe and Willie were not only brothers, but best friends. After Willie’s sudden passing in 2024, Abe’s health continued to decline as he missed his brother dearly. When brother Len moved into Abe’s house at The Meadows, it brightened his spirits. He had someone to visit with again, and the two of them enjoyed a lot of “fresh air” together. A huge thank you to the staff at The Meadows and the Renal Dialysis team at Cypress Regional Hospital for their compassion and amazing care they provided Abe over the years. 

Abe is survived by his children; Sandi Reimer, Marcel (Vicki) Reimer, and Tracy (David) Funk. His 6 grandchildren; Jayden (Tyler) Weston, Matthew (Emma) Reimer, Kennedy Funk, Griffin Funk, Cohen (Annika) Funk, Danon Funk. His 2 great grandchildren; Finn Weston, and Lainey Reimer. 

Abe is also survived by his sisters; Betty (Jake) Cornelson, Adeline (Steve) Brown, as well as his brothers; Ed (Deb) Reimer, Leonard Reimer, and sister in laws; Joyce Reimer, Shari Reimer, Sharon Wiebe and Marjory Wiebe. As well as numerous nieces & nephews. 

Abe is predeceased by his wife Lois, his brothers John and Willie, his brother-in-laws; Ray Wiebe, Rick Wiebe & Lorne Wiebe; sister in-laws, Elvira Reimer, Doris Priebe and Karen Reimer and Fran Wiebe, nieces; Mandi Reimer, Tammy Parisien, nephew; Russell Priebe; parents Henry and Anna Reimer, and his in-laws, Tony and Mary Wiebe. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastside Church of God, Swift Current, SK. The interment will be held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK. Donations in memory of Abe can be made to the Meadows Auxiliary or to the MS Society.
