Our Dear Mother,

Dorothy Anne Carleton was born on April 2nd, 1935, in Vanguard, SK, to Sigmund and Eldora Berge. Dorothy was one of ten children raised on the family farm. She attended Etric Bank School and then went to W.A. Beatty for her high school years.

Dorothy was married in 1954 to David Penner and they had four boys: Les, Rick, Sheldon, and Brad. She worked for years at various restaurants in Swift Current, while also being an Amway rep. She had a great sense of humour and a talent for relationships and people, which made her an excellent salesperson, and she made friends easily throughout her life.

She was remarried in 1981 to Alvin Carleton from Neville, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and dancing. She was very active from a young age, playing hockey, baseball, and her favourite sport bowling. She was an active volunteer for Sask Senior Games and coached two young kid’s bowling teams from Saskatoon to the national championships. She also had a love of camping and enjoyed playing cribbage.

She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, and 5 brothers. She was also predeceased by her son Rick, her first husband David, and later husband Alvin. She is survived by her three sons still living in Swift Current and one brother living in St. Albert, AB, her grandsons Cody and Colin, and one granddaughter Breanne. She passed peacefully from this world at The Meadows Care Home to be home with her lord on March 30, 2026, just four days before her 91st birthday
