Carrie Lynn McMurtry

April 4, 1963 – February 21, 2026

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, Mom, grandma and friend on February 21, 2026, at 62 years old.

Carrie Lynn McMurtry was born in Swift Current April 4, 1963, to Earl and Betty McMurtry. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Swift Current at Central, Irwin, and the Comprehensive High School.  She started working at the Credit Union while she was still in grade 12. She graduated from SCCHS early and she even had to take an afternoon off work at the bank to go to her high school graduation. She worked in various positions, departments, and buildings, all with the credit union for 34 years.

She married Robert Paul in 1986. They had two kids together, Hailey in 1989 and Riley in 1992.

Carrie’s kids were her world and she was theirs. Everything she did was with their best interest at heart; she loved, protected, cared for and truly enjoyed her kids. Carrie welcomed and loved both her kids’ spouses, Tony and Sydney, like her own. Carrie was grateful for their friendship and the love they had for her kids; but most of all she was grateful to them for her grandbabies. Jack, Louie, James, and Reed were her greatest joys. She loved them all to the moon and back as she often told them. She looked forward to every opportunity to spend any amount of time with them. She often called them, asked to hang out, or to have a sleepover. She always missed them dearly whenever she wasn’t with them.

Carrie loved her dad very much. She spoke of him often and was grateful for her time spent with him.  She valued the work ethic and strength he instilled in her. She loved her life as a farm kid and was very appreciative of it; from caring for the animals, summers when her cousins came to visit, and just simply because it was her home. It is easy to see why it was always her peaceful, happy place.

Carrie surrounded herself with amazing friends and would do anything for them any day, anytime, no questions asked. She valued every one of her friendships with her whole heart. Whether it be old friends, her kids’ friends and their parents, work friends, yoga friends, traveling friends, or new friends – she loved them all. She retired at 51 which allowed her to travel to so many amazing places, keep up her social game, spend time with her family and finally spend time thinking about herself.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, walking, doing yoga, traveling, crafting, painting, and hosting anyone in her home, especially for Christmas.

Carrie was caring, fun-loving, kind, selfless, loyal, smart, funny, and had such a loving heart; she was so beautiful in every way.

She will be missed by so many because she was so awesome and so loved.

She was simply, The Best.
