Marlene was born on August 31, 1941 in Swift Current, SK. She grew up in Moose Jaw where she attended high school. At that time Marlene taught tap dancing as well as other dances, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Marlene was employed by the Coop in Swift Current. There Marlene met Delvin, and they were married in 1962.

Delvin was in the RCMP and together with their 3 children, they moved around to Del’s postings in Rosetown, Turtleford, Gravelbourg, eventually coming back to Swift Current in 1984. Marlene was very active in all the communities they moved to, holding various jobs in each, such as a Nurses’ Aide in Turtleford and working at the TD Bank in Gravelbourg. She was helpful in making single RCMP members, who were away from family, feel at home by cooking meals for them. She was very active in Beta Sigma Phi, as well as the Royal Purple. Marlene was also Treasurer at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and volunteered in the Church library.

In 1984 Marlene became Executive Director at the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce where she held the position for 20 years. She enjoyed working with many of the business people in the community and had fond memories of her time there.

Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, arts, crafts, and loved playing games, such as charades, cards, especially bridge. She also enjoyed playing golf.

Marlene also enjoyed their many trips with friends to Hawaii, as well as road trips to Disneyland, Palm Springs and Laughlin.

Marlene had a very contagious laugh, she had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun. She had many friends and she will be dearly missed.
