Melvin Michael Spies, was born on May 22, 1948 in Leader, SK.  He passed away on November 25, 2025 lovingly surrounded by family in Leader, SK.  A private funeral service will be held at Little Flower Parish in Leader, SK on December 5, 2025 with Fr Prince officiating.  An intimate family burial will follow at Portreeve Cemetery, in Portreeve, SK.

Melvin was the only child of Michael and Eve Spies.  He grew up on a farm near Portreeve, SK.  He went to elementary school in Portreeve, SK and high school in Abbey, SK.  He dedicated his life to farming and enjoyed flying and trap shooting in his free time.  He also enjoyed dancing and polka music.  His grandchildren brought him great joy. 

Melvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Spies, his children Cherise (Nick Brandt), Joshua Spies (Suzanne), Chantel (Justin Foley), Jess Spies (Helen) and his grandchildren Evie, Emerson, Aidan, Kenzi, Brielle, Zachary, Emelia, Myla, Chase, Ryker and Ellie.  Melvin is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Eve Spies.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire team at Leader Hospital and Integrated Health Care Facility.  Melvin will be remembered for his gentle heart, his sense of humor and his love of all things farming and flying.
