Jean Satter Obituary

SATTER - Erma "Jean" It is with deep love and devotion that we announce the death of Erma Jean Satter (née Erlandson), age 97, of Swift Current, SK, who passed away on November 22, 2025 surrounded by family and held in the thoughts of all who loved her.

Jean was born on August 5th, 1928 in the Cadillac district. She was a lively, healthy child who relished being around her boisterous family of four brothers and two sisters. Her parents were part of the original hard-working, ethical pioneers who came to Canada by wagon to break the land and establish a farm. They lived a life defined by generosity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother, a cherished aunt, a faithful friend, and a source of good humour and wisdom for everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Family was always at the center of Jean’s existence. She poured her heart into her late husband, Harold “Bud” Satter and diligently raised their children—Hal (Betty), Rod (Laurel), Donna (Claude), and Karen (Scott)—by supporting them with patience, healthy food, and unconditional love. As grandmother to Pamela, Michelle, Steven, Aslinn, and Jimmi-Lynn, as well as a proud great-grandmother of seven, Jean was a source of support and inspiration.

Jean shared that same warmth with 35 nieces and nephews, offering love, laughter, and a home and heart that was always open to them. They have lost their final “Auntie" of our very large extended families.

Jean's positive attitude was very obvious to neighbours, to her American cousins, to fellow church members, and to her employees. She made everyone feel valued and cherished. Thank you to Pastor Travis Heide and to Jean's doctors, nurses and the many generous care-givers at Cypress House and The Meadows for assisting Jean to live a long and healthy life. And many thanks to the life-long friends who shared lots of laughs and great parties over many decades. The family reunions and joyful events with friends brought Jean and Bud so much pleasure throughout their entire lives!

Jean leaves behind a legacy of generosity and resilience that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will also be remembered for her incredible sewing and crocheting skills (drapery, quilts and afghans), her delicious cooking and baking (cinnamon buns, lefse, and everything that came out of her kitchen), her love of plants and gardening, and her considerable charitable efforts: Meals on Wheels, sewing diapers and hats for newborns, delivering clothing and blankets to northern First Nations communities, and many other efforts that helped countless people live better lives.

Jean Satter had a natural gift for making everyone feel like they mattered. She was appreciated for her warm smile and her kind words. Jean will be greatly missed and always remembered as a strong and loving person.

The Celebration of Life details will be announced by the family in Spring 2026 and held in Summer 2026.
