Twila Gale Schultz (nee Huss) Jan 14, 1957- May 9, 2025
After being diagnosed and accepting it, I decided to write my own obituary. Some may think “Oh yeah, Boss until the end”, and some may think “What a great mom saving her children this task”. You get to decide.
Predeceased by my mother Beulah Huss in Nov 2017, brother Randall Huss in Oct 2024, brother in law Leonard Wiebe in Sept of 2012, and mother in law Aggie Schultz in April 2013. I am survived by my brother Wendell Huss (Di), sisters Lexie Wiebe, Cindy Slusar (Ed), Shelley Johnston (Larry), father in law Gary Schultz, brother in law Jay Schultz, and sister in law Karla Krause (Clinton), many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The hardest ones to leave behind are my son Keon Burnett (Trina), my daughters Karma Jones (Jeff) and Kelly Burnett (Keegan), from these are my 4 granddaughters Dani, Raylin, Stevie and Laila, and the love of my life Ward Schultz.
I was born in the beautiful town of Shaunavon, the 3rd oldest of 6 siblings, I moved to Swift Current when I was 3 and have since resided. I received all my education in Swift Current, and had many different jobs, mostly in the food service industry. I finally joined the Cypress Health Region, where I started out as a Nutrition Services Aide, and after gaining seniority, I had tried my hand and spent my later years in the Sterile Processing Department and found that to be satisfying and rewarding.
Twila retired 12 years ago and had been living life to the fullest, she was always up for travelling or a music adventure. She and Ward travelled to 6 continents, including numerous countries and islands. She also attended many concerts and often toured long distances to see shows, turning the opportunity into a chance to explore whatever place they ended up.
She had many talents, sewing which she acquired from her mother; making some of her kids' childhood clothes, a full wardrobe for their cabbage patch kids, grad dresses and her wedding dress to name a few. Quilting was a hobby, everyone in the family has handmade custom quilts, sweaters and blankets, even the granddaughters dolls and pets. She also crocheted, enjoyed crafting, and made amazing birthday cakes. She loved to bake, with many staples and had perfected grandma’s cinnamon bun recipe. She also had a green thumb and a love for gardening.
Throughout her life she was very active, she spent many years playing softball, she coached her daughters ball teams when they were young. She was the loudest cheerleader at the judo mats for her 3 kids. Twila took the interests of her children and grandchildren upon herself to master or admire and was their proudest fan! She was always up for playing games, reading stories, skating, skiing, going camping or whatever was on the agenda. She was a dedicated and involved Legion member, in recent years she was part of a women’s pool league, enjoyed line dancing and she couldn’t stay away from the pickleball court.
Twila was small but mighty, very kind, enthusiastic and determined, she wasn’t afraid to share her opinion. She was a great and devoted mom, grandma, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin and friend. We will miss her smile and laughter. Our family tradition of making lefse will continue but will never be the same without our “Boss”.
Twila’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 7th, 2025, at the Swift Current Legion Hall – Branch #56 (239 1st Ave NE) with a reception to follow in the hall. A private family interment at the Mount Pleasant Columbarium in Swift Current will take place at a later date.
