Obituary of Robert Reimche
REIMCHE - Robert ( November 29, 1950 - February 22, 2025)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother Robert (Bud) on February 22, 2025 at the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility at the age of 74 years.
Robert (Bud) Lloyd Reimche was born on November 29, 1950 at the Swift Current Union Hospital. He was the youngest son of Harvey and Edna (née Schwartz) Reimche. He went to elementary school in Neidpath and completed his schooling at Hodgeville High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Regina and obtained his Education Degree.
Robert’s entire teaching career was at the Hodgeville High School. Anyone who had Mr. Reimche for a teacher will remember his motto of “a place for everything, and everything in its place.” He spent many countless hours after school coaching curling and volleyball and was always available if his students needed extra help with their studies. Robert was greatly respected by students and staff for his dedication and love of teaching.
His second greatest passion was gardening. Bud had a “green thumb” and everything flourished in his care. Family and friends benefited from his generous donations of produce, including many jars of tomatoes, pickled carrots and beans and our favorite chokecherry jam. Bud’s love of flowers and plants was evident in his home, his classroom, and even at the Care Homes where he stayed.
Bud loved to paint in his spare time and gifted his family with framed paintings. He was also an avid reader with a list of authors in alphabetical order and all the books he read by each one. Other hobbies included jigsaw puzzles and challenging puzzle games.
After our mother passed away, he moved into Swift Current and lived next door to Dad so he could help him with all his needs. He was a wonderful caregiver.
Bud dearly loved all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He never forgot a birthday or graduation and always sent cards and gifts of money for milestone birthdays. Last year, he made sure to prepare cards and gifts for future milestones and left them in Lorna’s care for mailing. We know that Bud touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
Of course, we cannot forget to mention his love for sports especially the Toronto Blue Jays and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He rarely missed a game.
While his passing brings great sadness there is comfort in knowing that he is without pain and suffering and he is reunited in heaven with his loved ones.
Robert is survived by his siblings Ron (Lorna) Reimche, Janet (Rod) Schwartz, and Judy (Larry) Thorburn, 7 nieces and nephews Geoff (Billie Joe) Reimche, Greg (Jackie) Reimche, Melanie (Gerry) Delorme, Ryan (Brandy) Thorburn, Jamie (Brent) Block, Twyla (John) Mize, Dallas (Karen) Schwartz, 16 great nieces and nephews, many cousins, aunts and uncles and friends. Robert was predeceased by his mom and dad Harvey and Edna Reimche, and great nephew Garrett Delorme.
A celebration of life will take place on March 7th at 2:00 pm at the East Side Church of God in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Creek Manor and also special thanks to Dr. Kassett and all the nurses and staff at the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility for their loving care of our dear brother.
Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bud’s memory can be made to the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility.
