Obituary of Paul Klippenstein

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Paul Klippenstein entered Heaven and ‘was gathered to his people’ on February 20, 2025. Paul was born to John E. and Helena Klippenstein on a farm near Main Centre, SK on August 28, 1931. He attended Goethe School and later finished his grade 10 and a year of Bible school at Herbert Bible School. As a teenager, dad confirmed his faith in water baptism, an event that was very significant in his life.  After deciding to leave the farm, Paul moved to Swift Current to look for work, including butchering, driving a cab, working at the horse plant, and finally settling in to a commitment with Western Grocers, where he worked for over thirty years.  In 1957, Paul met Helen Wiebe, and a year later, they married, June 21, 1958.  They were blessed with three children: Gail (1959), Linda (1963), and Neil (1966). Dad took service to others very seriously. During his working life, he was instrumental in forming his union and sat on his church board and that of the Christian Counseling Centre.  After retirement, he and Helen led Bible studies in their home, encouraged friends in their church senior’s groups, and served at funerals.  They enjoyed gardening throughout their lives and thoroughly enjoyed their trips to Greece, Israel, Egypt, Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, France, Ivory Coast, Mali, and Burkina Faso, as well as a number of tours throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dad was a steady, patient, good-natured man with a clever sense of humour, which he expressed to his last day.  His intelligence and hard work allowed him to advance in his company; his gift of teaching was exhibited in his parenting and biblical teaching; his love of reading kept him sharp and current; and his adventurous spirit and courage provided him with many wonderful experiences. He was a true source of security and inspiration.  We will truly miss him.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, seven brothers (Harry, Ben, Cornelius, John, Pete, Jake and Ernest), and four sisters (Agnes, Helen, Martha, and Sue).  He is survived by his children, Gail, Linda, and Neil, and his sister, Marie.

We want to thank the staff at Riverview Estates, the Swift Current Hospital, and Clover House for the excellent care in these last weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations to some of Paul’s favourite charities are appreciated.
