They raised two sons and farmed for 61 years. In 2015, the farmland was rented, but they remained on the home quarter. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, and baseball during his many years. Jean enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, curling, golf, and family and friends. In their honour, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
